Car Care 101: Tips for Keeping Your Car Looking New

For most people, nothing is as exciting as driving a new car. Understandably, you want to do everything possible to keep your car looking brand-new for as long as possible. This means taking proper care of your car, especially the paint. Here are a few tips that will help you keep your car looking new. To learn more make sure to visit Good Car Keeping for a step-by-step guide to deep cleaning your car.

Wash your car regularly

One simple way to keep your car looking brand-new is to wash it properly. Regularly washing your car will remove dirt and grime that may cause damage to the finish of your car. Ensure that you use soap that isn’t too harsh on your car’s paint. Also, use a different rag to wash the wheels to prevent spreading brake dust to the body of your car.

Remember to wash underneath your car. Even if you don’t see it most of the time, keeping the undercarriage of your car clean can prevent the buildup of mud and gunk that leads to corrosion, rust, and other issues.

Dry your car properly

After washing your car, don’t just leave it to air dry. Sun-drying can affect your car’s paint. When the water evaporates, dirt or minerals are left behind like you never washed your car. The dirt can also scratch the paint and leave your car looking dull and faded. Instead of sun drying, use quality chamois to absorb moisture.

Maintain your windshield

When washing your car, remember to clean the windshield. Weather, road dirt, and bug guts can take a toll on your car’s windshield and affect visibility. While washing the windscreen is a good way to maintain it, you should also replace the wipers and repair the glass if you notice a chip. An auto glass replacement may also be necessary if a chip spreads.

Don’t forget the interior of your car

Taking care of your car entails keeping it clean, both from the outside and the inside. One of the most common benefits of having your car interior clean is to increase its resale value. When you sell your car, the next owner won’t miss the interior of the vehicle. They will want it sparkling and clean. Additionally, a clean car gives you peace of mind. You get enough confidence on the road, and you won’t be embarrassed to give someone a ride.

Therefore, make sure that you:

  • Collect the remains in your car
  • Remove and clean all the floor rugs
  • Clean the inner windows and mirror
  • Clean the center console and the dashboard of dirt and filth
  • Sterilize the steering wheel

Use car covers

Using a car cover from someone like Car Covers Factory (you could view a few of our covers here if you were interested) gives your vehicle protection when it is outside. Apart from keeping your car looking new, using car covers can act as an exceptional theft preventive, prevent dents and scratches, and more importantly, put a barrier between your paint and the damaging weather.

Car covers can also keep animals and insects at bay, so whenever you have to park your car outside, always use a car cover. And when you have a big car, get a modified cover made for you.

Conclusion

As a car owner, you know that washing your car, keeping it shiny, and vacuuming it clean will make it look newer. However, there is a difference between cleaning your vehicle and keeping it looking new. Maintain your car and cleaning it is a way of keeping the costs of repair low. Use covers, clean your car’s interior, wash it regularly, dry it properly, and maintain your windshield.

  • You made a good point when you explained that it is a good idea to keep the center console of your vehicle clean. In addition to that, I would think that it would be a good idea to replace the plastic components on the inside of your vehicle if they are starting to get beat up. I would imagine that your car would be worth more money if the interior components that are made out of plastic are in good shape.
