Car Maintenance Tips for Busy People

If you’re like many of us, you’re no stranger to the stressed lifestyle that always keeps you on the edge of your seat with a whole slew of to-do lists. Just because you don’t have a lot of extra time on your hands doesn’t mean you don’t have time to keep your vehicle running smoothly, though.

Have a detailer come to your workplace for washing and detailing

If you are accustomed to having your car detailed every so often, but hate the wasted time spent, a on-demand car wash and detailing option could be an ideal option for you. Arrange to have a detailer meet you at your place of work or home, and have them go to work while you spend your time doing, well, whatever it is you’d be preferring to do.

You can often get a slight price break if you arrange for several of your coworkers to also have their cars detailed simultaneously. There is nothing like driving into your work’s parking lot in a dirty car and leaving that evening in a one freshly washed and vacuumed.

Use a mobile mechanic

Hate the back-and-forth of dropping your car off, picking up a rental, (or being toted around by a rental car or the mechanic’s driver service) and going back a day later to pick it back up? Then a mobile mechanic such as mobile roadworthy is a great alternative for basics like oil changes, brake checks, timing belt replacements, and dozens of other maintenance and repair jobs.

Mobile Mechanics are not only for when you’ve broken down on the side of the road. Similar to an on-demand car wash, a mobile mechanic can service your vehicle where you work or live, during hours that you specify. You’ll have an oil change without getting your shirt dirty or waiting in line for an hour. Plus, a mobile mechanic will have simple things with them that you may not, such as gloves from unigloves, in order to keep themselves protected while they are working.

Battery Repair & Replacement

Every car needs a battery to keep running effectively, but it’s often overlooked. It’s something you’ll need to put some effort into, but you could be surprised by how little time this could take. Small repairs could be relatively quick and easy, depending on what exactly is wrong, but it could be worth going to a professional, such as Hybrid Battery Repair.

While you’ll need to know what you’re doing when you’re fixing the battery, it should be quite simple, with a replacement being even easier than this. If you don’t know what you’re doing, however, it’s probably best left to a professional. Taking this route could be even faster, and might even take less than an hour, depending on the mechanic.

Schedule reminders

Busy people use calendars and schedules for a reason; it keeps them on track and reminds them where they need to be, and when. This is just as helpful when you’re looking to maintain your vehicle. Schedule reminders to get preventative maintenance taken care of, and inquire with your mechanic to see if they can maintain your vehicle’s service records. This takes out any guesswork and puts the responsibility in someone else’s hands, at least indirectly.

When you can, plan your regularly scheduled services as far in advance as you can, even if you are using a mobile mechanic. By doing that, you won’t be surprised when you see your miles tick over that 3,000 miles.

Fuel up before your tank reads empty

If you think that fueling up takes too much time, consider how much extra time is wasted when you run out of fuel unexpectedly. A busy lifestyle simply requires more planning and scheduling, so plan to fuel up on your least busy days at the office. Mondays and Tuesdays are the least busy days at the fuel station since so many people fuel up right before the weekend, so make your Tuesday lunch hour a trip to the fuel station to save time (and money.)
