As fall arrives each year, we look back at all the vehicles currently on the market and review which ones make the most sense as the best back to school cars.

This year, the list is getting a bit tougher due to fewer vehicle prices starting under $25,000 and our requirements for active safety equipment that we’ve evaluated as effective, getting stricter. We use a combination of our own experience, IIHS, NHTSA, and several other sources to determine the best vehicles for a new or young driver.

Each vehicle must offer or come standard with automatic braking, Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto, and be a vehicle that we thoroughly enjoyed.
